• Question: if Earth and Mars swapped places would it be possible to live on Mars

      Ah, a thought experiment. I like it.
      Swapping orbits would solve the temperature problem. And given enough time, maybe Mars would transform into a planet with an atmosphere and plant life. However, I think the people on Earth would not enjoy their new orbit and live long enough to move back to Mars.
      Great philosophical question!

      We still have many questions about Mars, like why has it lost its atmosphere, where is the water gone, etc.

      So…getting Mars closer to the Sun would help, but we certainly need an atmosphere to live and keep us warm as well as an ecosystem.
      So all in all, there are many unknown …

      But people have also looked into whether we could make Mars more habitable by creating an atmosphere there…
