      When designing the ISS, the engineers looked at submarines. This is a similar problem in terms of keeping people alive in a dangerous environment.
      We all have basic needs. Air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, and a warm room. That covers survival.
      To live, we need communication with family and friends, tools to work, a job to perform, etc. Look around your home and think what objects would you need in space and which you can leave behind… (telephone, TV, chairs, table, bed, internet…)
